ABAL MyReports, third prize in the 20th CETT Fundació Entrepreneurs Awards: “The challenges have driven us to continue innovating”

ABAL MyReports is the technological tool of ABAL Consulting, an empowerment consultancy to SMEs of tourism property managers to boost their profitability born in 2015. ABAL MyReports allows to unify, customize and simplify all hotel information in a single platform, through artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, to boost their profitability.  

The Entrepreneur Awards recognize the best entrepreneurial projects in the tourism, hotel and gastronomy sectors. The award consists of a 6-month mentoring period for the projects by members of the CETT mentoring team and an economic endowment. Thus, the ABAL MyReports team will be accompanied by Xavier Garcia, Cluster Manager at Tech Tourism Cluster.   

We spoke with Alexis Barceló, director of ABAL MyReports, to learn more about the platform and its impact on the tourism sector. 

• Where does Abal MyReports come from and how does it impact the hotel industry?   

 Hotels collect large volumes of data such as reservations, rates, occupancy, guest preferences or comments in real time and many establishments still do not take full advantage of this asset to optimize their revenues. ABAL MyReports was born out of the need to offer tourist accommodations a single, intuitive and efficient tool to collect and analyze data and boost their profitability.   

We strongly believe in the efficiency of centralizing all key information on a single platform and our goal is to optimize hotel management by digitizing processes, enabling establishments to make informed decisions and improve their guests' experiences.  

• How does the platform empower tourist accommodation hosts?  

The platform provides them with real-time information on the performance of their accommodations, facilitating strategic decision-making. Thanks to an automated reporting and analysis system, hosts can manage their business more efficiently, maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.    

• What role does personalization play in its use and how do you use innovation to ensure it?  

Personalization is key in ABAL My Report. The platform adapts reports and metrics to the specific needs of each accommodation by using artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to deliver personalized insights and tailored solutions.  

• It is said that information is power. How does the application use it to promote responsible tourism activity?  

ABAL MyReports helps accommodations manage their resources more sustainably by identifying areas for improvement in areas such as energy consumption, waste management and operational efficiency. By providing accurate data, we promote more conscious decision-making aligned with responsible tourism.    

• Every entrepreneurial journey faces different obstacles... What have been yours?  

Like any entrepreneurship, we have faced challenges such as adapting to a constantly evolving industry, the need for funding for technological development and resistance to change in some traditional operators. However, the challenges have driven us to continue innovating and improving our value proposition.    

• What does the recognition of the CETT Fundació mean for ABAL?  

It is an honor to receive this recognition, as it validates our effort and commitment to the digital transformation of the tourism sector. In addition, it motivates us to continue developing innovative solutions that contribute to the evolution of the industry.  

• Finally, what advice would you give to students interested in entrepreneurship?  

We encourage them to bet on innovation and perseverance. Entrepreneurship is a path full of challenges, but also of great learning. It is essential to surround yourself with a good team, to be open to change and, above all, to believe in your project. The journey will depend mainly on themselves and the attitude with which they face the challenges ahead.
