At CETT we are committed to gender equality in order to promote a tourism, hotel and gastronomy sector -and, consequently, a society- with equal opportunities for everyone.

On March 8 we commemorate International Women's Day, a day to reflect on the road ahead, in which it is key to accelerate action. A day on which we reaffirm our institutional commitment to the defense of equality, inclusion and the empowerment of women in order to build a fairer and more sustainable world.

We want to remember, once again, that equality runs through our purpose and the values it represents. Accelerating action for gender equality is an essential task and a fundamental necessity that cannot be taken for granted in the fast pace at which we are working. For this reason, equality is part of our philosophy: we have an equality committee that ensures the adoption of inclusive policies at the CETT Campus, we promote the representation of women in positions of responsibility, we guarantee equal pay and we place educational inclusion as a structural thread.

As a training center, we are committed to continue using training as a tool to provide young people with knowledge, critical spirit and personal and professional skills, essential attributes to promote their independence. Accompanying young talent is the way to build a responsible tourism, hotel and gastronomy sector that is representative of society as a whole, based on good practices and respectful of all parties involved.

When we speak of equality, we speak of policies that make it possible, of transformations, of safe spaces and respect. All this cannot be achieved without an education in values, without training that focuses on people and their professional and personal growth to generate positive impacts on the sector and society, accompanying them throughout the different stages of their careers.

This approach is materialized in equality, research and dissemination projects included in the training plans, as well as with institutional collaborations and joint actions, such as those we carry out with the Diputació de Barcelona, among others.

We are also talking about leadership, about women who support other women, from management positions to technical teams. In the case of the CETT Campus, with a representation of 64% in the management team and 44% in the governing departments. Women who make way for other women and accompany them in the process.

Equality is built day by day and to make it a reality it is essential to raise awareness and involve everyone. Therefore, from leadership and talent training, I encourage you to accelerate action every day in the classroom, outside the classroom, at events, in academia, in the professional world, and in personal spheres. In the same way, I would like to take this opportunity to stress the need for a chain of empowerment to push women into positions of responsibility: let's support each other and push each other forward.

Let's accelerate action together,

Dr. Maria Abellanet Meya, President of CETT
