Offer, request and award of external internship

The external internship, is a training activity carried out by students and supervised by Career Services, with the aim of applying and complementing the knowledge acquired in the academic training, while favouring the acquisition of skills that prepare them for the exercise of professional activities.

Internships can be carried out in national and international companies and institutions.

Because of the training nature of the internships, under no circumstances may they give rise to any obligations of an employment relationship, nor may they lead to the substitution of the work provided by the jobs.

In the case that at the end of the university studies the student joins the workforce of the company or institution where he/she has done the internship, this will not be counted for the purposes of seniority, nor will it exempt the student from the probationary period, unless expressly stipulated in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Scope of application

The following are eligible for an external internship:

  • Students enrolled in any of the EUHT CETT-UB's undergraduate degree programmes.
  • Students from foreign universities, in accordance with international programmes that allow them to be academically linked to the UB.

Structure of the Work Placement

The Practicum is the subject that allows students to put into practice the theoretical knowledge they acquire at the university and their professional skills. Through the external internship you get to know the labour market and start your professional career. You are encouraged to use the external internship to explore your profession and clarify what you want to specialise in.

The minimum duration of the external internship is 150 hours and the maximum is 900 hours.

Offer, Dissemination, Application and Awarding of Internships

Career Services is responsible for establishing the criteria for the offer and selection of students and companies or institutions.

Once enrollment has been formalised, it is advisable that approximately one month before the desired date for starting the internship, students start looking for internships according to availability and professional interests.

The student may look for a company where to do the internship on his/her own. In this case, the student will agree an internship programme with the company [1] that must be validated by Career Services.

On the other hand, the student can consult the internship offers managed by Career Services through the Internship Exchange on the Virtual Campus.
